Computer forensics

We help our clients recover information during the course of an investigation through electronic discovery using our dedicated computer forensics capability.

Our computer forensics team assists leading international law firms, multinational corporations and public bodies in a variety of different scenarios. These include fraud, confidential information and intellectual property theft, bribery and corruption issues, defamation, breach of contract, and the deliberate concealment of evidence. We can also obtain evidence from the vast majority of digital platforms including mobile phones, PDAs, fax machines and computers that may run on unconventional operating systems.

Examples of our casework include:

  • Investigating the provenance of emails, the authors of documents and the timeline changes in defamation cases
  • Rebuilding piecemeal digital information that was hidden on computers
  • Tracing the digital data trail of stolen intellectual property

 



The founder and majority shareholder of a consultancy business sold his interest to a multinational communications corporation. The contract of sale contained restraint clauses, prohibitions on the removal of confidential information, and non-solicitation of staff and client clauses. After about a year our client, the multinational, became suspicious that he was acting in breach of contract.
